Romania to grace FESPO 2018 as guest country
20.11.2017 - Romania is a country of contrasts: where Count Dracula meets backpackers, Mediterranean flair meets glacial mountain caves and tradition meets the modern age.
Skiing in the Carpathian Mountains, following in Dracula’s fang prints in Transylvania, taking a dip in the Black Sea or visiting the monasteries in Moldavia. Romania has a lot to offer travellers – both in the summer and wintertime – including plenty of culture and adventure. Traditions and customs are still practised in many parts of the republic and hospitality is a top priority for the people of Romania, especially in rural areas. Often dubbed the erstwhile Paris of the East, the capital, Bucharest, oozes charm. The Palace of the Parliament, the second largest government building in the world after the Pentagon, is particularly worth a visit from outside. “We’re delighted to welcome Romania as the guest country at FESPO 2018,” says Trade Fair Director Stephan Amstad. “Romania is one of the most unspoilt tourist destinations in Europe and we hope we can give our visitors a flavour of the country next year.”
Special theme: “Barrier-Free Travel”
People with handicaps are still largely ignored by many providers as a guest segment. Consequently, the largest holiday fair in Switzerland has chosen “barrier-free travel” as the special theme for next year’s exhibition. Those affected and their families will be able to seek advice on suitable travel deals. And there will be a panel discussion where specialists, associations and aid organisations will shine a light on the difficulties and fresh possibilities that travelling with a handicap entails. The 2018 special theme should also appeal to people who are not affected and raise awareness of the topic so that people with a handicap can also enjoy their holidays without barriers. Fair-goers can also expect numerous other highlights: golf fans are sure to get their money’s worth in Hall 5, where they can try out the latest golf clubs on the driving range and swap ideas and experiences with fellow golfers. And the audience will be able to marvel at the star riders from Mercedes-Benz CSI Zurich at close quarters in the riding arena in Hall 2 from Friday to Sunday.
