FESPO welcomes Ras Al Khaimah as guest country 2020
07.03.2019 - The BERNEXPO officials have managed a coup: for the first time, Ras Al Khaimah, an emirate from the Arab world, will honor the FESPO as a guest country.
Ras Al Khaimah is the northernmost country of the seven United Arab Emirates (UAE) and is considered a hidden treasure. Not only are there 64 kilometers of beaches inviting you to relax, swim and participate in water sports but the emirate offers a wide range of other experiences. Terracotta sand dunes in the desert and the imposing Jebel Jais mountain range with the longest zip line in the world are waiting to be discovered. History fans also don't miss out in Ras Al Khaimah. Numerous archaeological sites, such as houses from coral stone and the Souks, bear witness to the 7000-year history of the principality.
Haitham Mattar, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA), and Stephan Amstad, Exhibition Director of FESPO Zurich, met at the ITB in Berlin on Wednesday, 6 March 2019 to sign the contract. "We are delighted that Ras Al Khaimah is the first FESPO guest country from the United Arab Emirates," said Stephan Amstad. "With Romania in 2018 and Mongolia in 2019, we have already welcomed countries that are free of mass tourism. With Ras Al Khaimah we can continue the trend."
