We take the protection of your personal information very seriously. We treat your personal data with confidence, complying with data protection legislation and this privacy statement.

It is normally possible to browse our website without divulging any personal data. Where it is possible to enter personal data (for instance, name, address or email addresses), this is always voluntary, as far as possible.

We would like to point out that data transmissions through the Internet (e.g. communication by email) can be subject to security breaches. It is not possible to ensure the seamless protection of data against third party access.

1. Period of storage of your data

We only store your data for the period necessary for processing them or in compliance with a legal obligation. In the case of analyses, we only store your data until the analysis has been concluded. If we store your data in connection with a contractual relationship with you, those data will be stored for as long as the relationship exists, but no longer that prescribed for our claims or unless covered by statutory or contractual storage requirements.

We only process your data within the restrictions of data processing principles and where there is a legal basis. That legal basis applies in the event of performance of our contract and warning letters. Our aim is to improve our offerings continuously and match them to your needs. 1. Server log files

The provider of this website automatically records and stores information in server log files that are automatically transmitted to us by your browser. That information includes:

•             Date and time of your browser query

•             General information on your operating system and browser version

These data are processed exclusively for the purposes of statistical evaluation and to improve our website. The website provider (controller) reserves the right to assess server log files subsequently if there are indications of unlawful use.

3. Entrance tickets, vouchers and promotional codes

If you wish to buy tickets in advance (PDF tickets, mobile tickets), we would like to point out that we will require at least your contact data and payment details. Additional data may be requested for other trade fairs. We will use those details for market research or to improve our own products. The prices of entrance tickets can be taken from our website. The prices seen on the website at the time of booking shall apply: payment is due immediately. The customer then makes payment online for the amount shown in the order.

The customer may be granted a promotional code or voucher by an exhibitor or event organiser, providing a reduced price or free entrance. If a customer makes use of such a promotional code or voucher, the exhibitor or event organiser will be provided with data relating to the entrance ticket purchased in this way. The customer's title, first name and surname and/or company name, where applicable, email address, telephone number and postal address will be passed on, where they were provided. No profile data will be transmitted.

4. Visitor registration, consent and purpose

With regard to its own exhibitions, BERNEXPO AG can carry out all the registration steps.

By registering as a visitor and submitting your consent at the end of the registration process, you are consenting to BERNEXPO AG using certain selected data (company name, first and surnames, address, payment method and email address) for processing payments and dispatching tickets. In addition, those details (company name, first and surnames, address, payment method, email address and other details you entered) may be used for marketing and optimising purposes that will enable us to perform market research so that we can offer better services, improve our customer service and optimise our offerings. This will not include sending unsolicited or unlawful marketing information by email, telephone or post.

a) Use of your data for marketing purposes & visitor mailings

We use your contact details after you have registered with us as a visitor to notify you by email of similar events and for marketing and optimisation purposes that enable us to offer you better services and customer to experience and optimise our offerings (visitor mailings).

The legal basis for sending visitor mailings after you have registered as a visitor is contained in Article 7(3) of the Swiss Fair Trade Practices Act (UWG). You can withdraw your consent to visitor mailings at any time, either by email to legal@bernexpo.ch or by clicking the link at the end of a visitor mail.

5. Lead tracking in connection with a visit to an event

Exhibitors at selected trade fairs may use the retracking process to scan your visitor ID tag and business cards using a scanner provided by BERNEXPO AG. If an exhibitor scans your visitor ID tag, that exhibitor will gain direct access to details submitted in your registration. It must be stressed that none of your bank or credit card details will be transferred. After scanning, the exhibitor will have access to your company name, first and surnames, job title and description, address, email address, telephone number and mobile number provided you entered them when you registered. Any data transmitted to the exhibitor in this way is subject to the responsibility and data protection provisions of that exhibitor. Participation in this service is voluntary for you as a visitor. You can withdraw your consent at any time by communicating this to the exhibitor. BERNEXPO AG cannot accept any liability for the exhibitor's storage and processing of your data. Any additional details provided to the exhibitor by you will also be transmitted to BERNEXPO AG.

6. Online exhibitor directory «visit»

If you register as an exhibitor, we will publish the content of your company profile as known to us (e.g. company name, address, contact details) and other company details (such as the product category). Any content or data modified or added to through the booking portal will also be visible to the general public.

The booking portal and online exhibitor directory are provided by a technical service provider: ngn - new generation network GmbH, Leipziger Strasse 126, 10117 Berlin. That company processes personal data exclusively for the purposes of rendering its services in operating the booking portal and online exhibitor directory, but not for its own purposes.

7. Subscribing to and unsubscribing from the newsletter

If you register for our free newsletter, the data requested for the registration, i.e. your email address and, as an option, your name and address, will be transmitted to us. At the same time, we store the IP address of the Internet connection you used to access our website, the date and time of your registration. As part of the remaining registration process, we will ask for your consent to send you the newsletter, will describe the content unambiguously and make reference to this privacy statement. The data that we collect in that process are used exclusively to send you the newsletter.

You can withdraw your consent to receiving the newsletter at any time with effect for the future. You simply have to communicate your withdrawal of consent or click the cancellation link in any newsletter.

8. MailChimp – newsletter dispatch

The newsletter distributed by The Rocket Science Group also includes a web beacon.
