Kaltern, one of the most beautiful wine villages in the world
Kaltern, home of Lake Kaltern and Kalterersee. In one of them you can take a dip, the other is nice to pour, since the former is the warmest swimming lake in the Alps and the latter is an autochthonous red wine that tastes best when slightly chilled. The similarity in name is no coincidence, since the best vineyards for the Kalterersee wine are situated around Lake Kaltern, which is in fact the largest natural lake in South Tyrol. Inseparably interwoven through time and their shared history, Lake Kaltern and Kalterersee are the soul of the winegrowing village of Kaltern (known in Italian as Caldaro), home and identity in equal measure.
