Media release FESPO & Golfmesse: Dive into the travel trends of 2025

Zurich, 21. January 2025

Exotic destinations, faraway countries and a wide range of offers – from 30 January to 2 February, FESPO & Golfmesse at Messe Zürich invites visitors to discover the travel trends of the new year. The major Swiss event organisers and numerous exhibitors from abroad will be represented at Switzerland’s largest holiday and travel fair. Asian destinations and trips far away from tourist crowds are particularly on trend this year.

A total of 500 exhibitors have registered for the 33rd edition of FESPO & Golfmesse, some of which are new, while others have appeared at Switzerland’s largest holiday and travel fair before. Stephan Amstad, Exhibition Director of FESPO & Golfmesse: “We are delighted that many big-name Swiss event organisers will be there. Once again, the trade fair has a distinctly international flavour, and we are welcoming exhibitors from all over the world, reinforcing our position as the leading platform in Switzerland.”

Trends: Asia and trips far away from tourist crowds

FESPO 2025 boasts a wealth of specialists who are professionals in their fields and able to provide expert advice on destinations and different types of travel. Asian destinations are popular in 2025, notably Taiwan and Japan, alongside FESPO regulars China, Thailand and Malaysia. Japan is celebrating 160 years of bilateral relations with Switzerland at FESPO. Asian destinations are particularly popular with Swiss holidaymakers: “Asia is one of the most popular regions for long-distance travel this year. Southeast Asian destinations in particular, such as Thailand and Vietnam, are now seeing marked increases,” explains Martin Wittwer, President of the Swiss Travel Association.

When it comes to organised travel, the Swiss still prefer classic beach holiday destinations such as Spain, Greece and Turkey. As Wittwer adds, there is also a noticeable trend towards authentic experiences away from the familiar tourist resorts and highly frequented regions.

A diving pool at the trade fair

You can literally immerse yourself at FESPO 2025, as Funny Diving’s popular diving container is returning after an absence of many years. Filled with 25 m3 of water, it is staffed by a professional support team, making it accessible to all – from newcomers looking to try out diving to experienced divers with diver certification. So it’s worth bringing your swimming gear with you. Water is an important element at FESPO, with much of the focus on cruises offered by various operators, who are on hand to advise visitors about travel options on luxury liners, expedition ships and family cruisers. Mareverlag, for example, has put together a special package that enables guests to explore the Norwegian coast on board an expedition cutter.

500 presentations – and Golfmesse focuses on improving your game

This year, there will again be around 500 presentations at Messe Zürich, covering destinations, travel experiences and golf topics. The experience presentations, which take place at the travel hub in Hall 3 and are hosted by travelmagazin.ch, are hugely popular at FESPO. In addition to this, the popular Golfmesse – the most important meeting point on the golf scene in Switzerland – has a series of fascinating presentations lined up in its forum. This year, the focus is on improving your game. Golfmesse is also very much a hands-on affair, with a large driving range where visitors can try out the latest irons. It also features a host of new hotels and equipment specialists, who are on hand to provide tips for the upcoming golf season.
